This store is his first project with shipping containers, and he has clearly blown it out of the water with his radical design, said to be inspired by the uneven foliage that is characteristic of a coffee bush.
The all-white coffee shop, with a drive-through facility, is made up of cantilevered containers placed at right angles to each other creating a complex two-storey structure. Windows and skylights are cut into the shipping containers to bring in plenty of much-needed natural light into the steel structure. This building is Asia’s first container Starbucks outlet that is part of the coffee company’s “Greener Stores” initiative that was set up to explore more sustainable shops for the future.
